When to send your wedding stationery out

Your wedding stationery gives your guests the first glimpse into your big day and really sets the tone for the whole event. Whether you are planning a small intimate gathering or a big weekend affair, allow your stationery to align with your wedding aesthetic and follow these tips for ordering and sending out your wedding stationery.

Contact your stationery design and printer

I always recommend that as soon as you can, get in touch with your chosen stationery designer + printer. The earlier you touch base with suppliers you want to work with then the less stressful it will be for everyone involved. This also means that you won’t be disappointed when they get booked up, as the majority of couples will start to looking around and booking items and suppliers 2 years prior to their big day.ay you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Save the dates

If you are wanting to send save the dates out, then I would advise to order these 1 year in advance, or again as early as possible. Once you know your date and venue, and that has been booked in then there’s nothing stopping you for getting your stationery ball rolling. Once you’ve ordered your save the dates, ideally you want to be sending them to your guests 9 months to 1 year in advance. However if your wedding isn’t for another 2 years but you have confirmed the venue and date, then why not tell your guests and get it in their diary.

Invitations

For wedding invitations and the rest of your stationery suite, you would want to be ordering these with your stationery 6 - 12 months in advance. It doesn’t matter if you don’t know the finer details yet as your stationer can book you in and start to work on your design whilst you are finalising everything with your other wedding suppliers. Then as soon as your know the finer details of times, accommodation recommendations, if you are having children attend, gift list details, or if your guests need to pick menu options then you want to send these over so they can get added in to your chosen design. Finally you want to be sending your wedding suite to your guests 4 - 6 months in advance.

Get in touch

One other thing to consider is that if you are wanting your stationer to design a fully bespoke suite this will take longer then if you chose a semi-customisable suite as the design work has already taken place. But get in touch if you want to discuss your wedding and timings with me, as I do offer a rush service so if you have your heart set on a design but your timings are looking a little tight, then still get in touch as I would love to bring your wedding stationery dreams to life!
