How I create letterpress Stationery for Creative Business Owners - Bonny & Clyde Design Studio

1. Firstly I would take a look at your website and/or Instagram account

I start off by taking a look of your website and/or Instagram account. I explore everything your business has to offer, including what your business does as well as services and products that you provide. When looking at Bonny & Clyde Design Studio’s website, I can see their branding is clean, modern and timeless. They work with Makers and Creators to provide services such as brand and website design, as well as 1-2-1 tutorials. This means that as they work with a variety of other small businesses they need stationery that will appeal to a wide spectrum of clients from other industry backgrounds.

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

2. We chat all things your business and your business’s stationery needs

Then we chat together which allows me to find out what you would use stationery for and what you need it to be able to do. Do you just need a way of sharing your contact details, if so business cards are great for this. Or do you need something a bit bigger so you can write personalised notes to your new and current clients? For Bonny & Clyde as they work with so many different clients and other small businesses I would feel that branded note cards would work perfectly. It gives them space in the middle of the note card to write personalised messages to their new and current clients, making each piece of stationery bespoke to each business.

3. I advise the best stationery products and print technique that would suit your brand

After we have chatted, I send you through the best options for your stationery. I have a few different options of paper including a white 100% cotton paper which is perfect for letterpress printing. As well as a paper option that comes in over 50 different colours which is superb for including your brand colours into your stationery. Then I advise if you should go for letterpress or hot foil printing. Letterpress printing semi transparent inks so these are perfect for lighter shades of paper. But if you have chosen a coloured or darker shade of paper, then hot foil would be the best technique to go for. But don’t worry as both print techniques leave a beautiful tactile impression into the surface of the paper. For Bonny & Clyde I would suggest printing on our luxury 100% cotton white paper in a heavy 600gsm weight. Then to have their logo and contact details printed in a classic and timeless black letterpress ink.

4. I design a few options for you to pick from and make any changes to

Based on everything we have chatted about, I ask you to send me all the different design files you have of your logos. These files will need to be provided to me in an EPS format and having all the design elements vectorised within them. I then go away and design a few options. I consider the positioning of your logo, details and anything else you would like to have printed. I also think about the sizing of your logo and fonts, deciding what is going to print the best outcome and achieve the perfect stationery. For Bonny & Clyde, I would suggest a couple layouts of their logo either at the top, bottom or side of their note cards and see how this looks alongside their contact and social media details. I then share these designs with you and you can make any changes you would like before we lock your design in.

5. You sit back and relax and I get to work printing your new luxury stationery

Once you have decided on the perfect design for your new stationery, then you can just sit back and relax whilst I get to work and hand print all your luxury stationery. Once its all ready I let you know that it’ll be on the way to you soon, so you can start to get excited to receive.

It doesn’t matter if your business isn’t local to me in Devon, as I work with businesses all over the South West and the rest of the UK.
